At Family Science Night, chemists from the Santa Clara Valley Section and from the California Section set up over 15 experiments including an identification of mystery powders, paper chromatography of ink, pH experiments, making Slime, plastic recycling, and sampling liquid nitrogen ice cream.   Over 300 students and family attended.

This is a hands-on evening for the students and the following experiments were available:
Magic Markers Revealed (paper chromatography) - Santa Clara Valley ACS

Mystery Powder / CSI - Santa Clara Valley ACS

Cartesian Divers - Santa Clara Valley ACS

Earth Day / Green House Gases / Carbon Footprint / Acid Rain - Calif ACS

  Plastic Recycling - Calif ACS

  Slime! - Calif ACS

Plant Smells, and Build Your Own Molecules - Calif ACS

pH Workshop / Dry Ice - Calif ACS

Elementeo (a chemistry card and board game) - Santa Clara Valley ACS

UV-color Changing Beads - Calif ACS

DNA/RNA Base-Pairing -- Make Your Own Genes - Calif ACS

Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream - Calif ACS

Astronomy in the courtyard - Santa Clara Valley ACS
