Public Outreach for 2014
Howard & Sally Peters
Besides the Section's many programs and activities that
include public outreach, Howard and Sally Peters have given talks on
chocolate and its chemistry via many different venues.
A brief listing of the dates and locations follows:
Feb
“Chocolate, Food of the Gods” at the Vi in Palo Alto, California (Vi
is an upscale retirement
home at Stanford University)
March “SCI MIX CHAL”
Posters and Chocolate give-away and raffle in Dallas Texas
Greater Houston, Texas Local Section: a chocolate lecture was
given
April SPLASH program for 7-12th
graders at Stanford University. Chocolate &
Invention
(with patented toys)
May “Chocolate: A
Religious Experience”: lecture at Pepperdine University in
California. These
were Bible Lectures in Malibu, California.
The “Chocolate, Food of the Gods” lecture was given at a
meeting of the San Diego,
California Local Section.
Howard Peters was invited to be a judge for geochemistry at the
INTEL International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles,
California
June “Chocolate, Food of
the Gods” was given at the Chemistry Department, University of
Hawaii, Honolulu, Hawaii
Aug “Chocolate: A
Religious Experience” was presented at the Sierra Bible Camp,
Lake
Almanor, California.
“Chocolate and Invention , a SCI MIX CHAL, a Chocolate give-away and
raffle (with patented toys) in San Francisco; Howard and Sally
provided all the chocolate
Both “Chocolate: A Religious Experience” and a talk
about invention (with patented toys) were given on a Sun
Princess Alaska Cruise.
Sept. “Chocolate: A
Religious Experience” was given at the Santa Clara University
Law School reunion, celebration in Santa Clara, California
Oct
“Chocolate, Food of the Gods” was given at the “Teach the Teachers
Workshop” at Mission College, Santa Clara, California
“Chocolate,
Food of the Gods” was given at Chaminade University in
Honolulu, Hawaii
Nov Five Lectures on
“Science” and on “Chemistry and Invention” were given on a Crown
Princess Cruise to Tahiti. They were given in the Princess Theater
and then rebroadcast next day on the ship's in-cabin TV.
